The Japanese Government has provided 292,090 Euros to support Healthcare Institutions

The Government of Japan has decided to provide grant funds in the amount of approx. 292,090 Euro (approx. 570,280 BAM) for three projects – ambulance and medical equipment procurement projects for the Health Care Center in Zivinice and the Health Care Center Prof. Dr. Savo Bumbic in Gacko, as well as the procurement of a waste collection truck for the Municipality of Jezero.

The Grant contracts were signed by Ambassador KINEFUCHI Masami and the directors of the institutions, Ms. Nevena Miljkovic Mandic, Mr. Hidajet Rahimic, and the mayor of Jezero Municipality, Ms. Snezana Ruzicic respectively on November 1st, 2024 at the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan.

Through the Project for Equipping Health Care Center Zivinice with two ambulances, the Health Care Center Zivinice will be granted 99,704 Euro (approx. 195,000 BAM). Through the project, the HCC Zivinice will be equipped with two new ambulances. It is expected that around 1,800 people will benefit from this grant aid annually.

The Government of Japan will grant 56,856 Euro (approx. 111,200 BAM) to HCC in Gacko for the Project for the Improvement of the Health Care Centre Prof. Dr Savo Bumbic in Gacko. The project will improve the capacity of emergency transportations and medical treatments at the center, which is expected to benefit approximately 6,000 patients per year.

For the Project for the Provision of a Waste Collection Truck in Jezero Municipality, the amount of 135,533 Euro (approx. 265,080 KM) will be granted. In total, approx. 1,150 residents will benefit annually from the waste collection truck, which will contribute to the Municipalities plans to expand eco-tourism by improving the city’s environment.

The Government of Japan has been assisting the improvement of essential sectors, including health care and education, in Bosnia and Herzegovina through the scheme of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP) which began in 1996. The total grants approved in the last 28 years amount to over 20 million Euro (approx. 39 million BAM).
