The Kremlin rejected Washington’s Accusations of Meddling in the US Presidential Election

Accusations by American officials of Moscow’s meddling in the presidential elections in the United States are meaningless, said the spokesman of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

“This is not the first time that Russia has been accused of meddling in the American elections, of course, we do not interfere,” Peskov said in response to the Washington Post, Al Jazeera reports.

Commenting on US restrictions on Russian media earlier this week, Peskov said Americans don’t like the truth.

“Our media simply conveys the truth, but, unfortunately, the Americans do not like the truth that is uncomfortable for them, and they immediately take repressive measures,” added the spokesman of the Russian president.

The US Treasury Department announced on Wednesday the decision to add the Russian television channel RT and its editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan to the list of sanctions. Sanctions were also imposed on her deputies Anton Anisimov and Elizaveta Brodska.

In addition to them, the editor of the RT news program Andrej Kijaško, the head of the department for digital media projects Konstantin Kalashnikov and a number of other employees of the TV channel were also blacklisted.

A senior US intelligence official said on Friday that Russia is the most active foreign adversary trying to influence the Nov. 5 US presidential election, while China is more focused on lower-level candidates.
