The Ministry of Economy submitted to the Government of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC) the complete documentation on the quarry in Donja Jablanica, the place where 15 people died.

In accordance with the previous assignment of the President of the Government of the HNC, Marija Buhac, as well as yesterday‘s Conclusion from the extraordinary session of the Government of the HNC, the departmental Ministry of Economy of the HNC withdrew all documentation related to the company Sani d.o.o. from its archives. Apple tree.

It is forbidden to carry out works, sealed building

It is evident from the documentation that the name of the legal entity is “Company for stone exploitation and processing, trade and services Sani d.o.o. Jablanica”, registered under activity 23.70 (cutting, shaping and processing of stone). The company repeatedly asked the Government of HNC for a concession for the exploitation of stone in the area of Donja Jablanica, which they never received.

In fact, based on the recorded reports, the cantonal inspectors in the mentioned period on several occasions, starting in 2009, carried out inspections of the open quarry, while issuing a series of orders for the implementation of the ordered measures. Among other things, in 2009, the quarry in question was prohibited from carrying out work, so that in the same year the building was sealed with all the materials found on the construction site. In 2011, the cantonal inspectors also issued a misdemeanor order for Sani d.o.o. A fine in the amount of 5,000.00 BAM as well as a misdemeanor order for the responsible person in the amount of 500.00 BAM.

The last inspection supervision, according to the Conclusion of the Government of the HNC, was carried out in August 2021, and the report on the condition found states the following: “There are no personnel or machines present, there are no visible signs of work being carried out. Noticeably low and medium-sized vegetation, the deposit is mostly overgrown with vegetation, which indicates that there have been no changes since the last inspection, that is, no work has been carried out.”

Government: We do not claim that there were no illegal activities on the ground

Company Sani d.o.o. Jablanica received, through the Ministry of Economy, an incentive in the amount of 14,000.00 BAM for technological development and digitization from the Government of the HNC. It is important to emphasize that the incentive was granted for the actual registered activity of the Company, which does not include the exploitation of stone.

In the archives of the Ministry, after 2021, there is no report for the inspection of the quarry in question.

“We emphasize that with this report the Government does not claim that there were no illegal activities on the ground, which we leave to the investigative bodies that will determine the factual situation. The entire documentation will be available to the investigative bodies when they request it,” the HNCGovernment announced.

To recall, the Prosecutor’s Office of HNC opened a case regarding the quarry in Donja Jablanica, after the Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), Nermin Niksic, said at a press conference that the damage would not have been so great and there would not have been so many victims if quarry, which was located on the slope above this village, had not collapsed, N1 writes.
