In Eight Months of this Year, 1.3 Million Tourists visited BiH

In the period January – August 2024, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina made 1,308,147 visits, which is 10.8 percent more compared to the same period in 2023.

Domestic tourists made 2.3 percent more visits compared to the same period in 2023, while foreign tourists made 14.4 percent more visits compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the period January – August 2024, tourists in BiH achieved 2,767,926 overnight stays, which is eight percent more compared to the same period in 2023, according to the data of the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

Domestic tourists achieved 1.5 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2023, while the number of overnight stays by foreign tourists was 10.9 percent higher compared to the same period of the previous year. In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists was 28.7 percent, while the participation of foreign tourists was 71.3 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the most overnight stays for eight months this year were achieved by tourists from: Croatia (13.1 percent), Serbia (11.6 percent), Turkey and Saudi Arabia with each (9.6 percent), Slovenia (5, 4 percent), Germany (4.2 percent), USA (3.2 percent), Italy (2.9 percent) and Poland with (2.8 percent) overnight stays, which represents 62.4 percent of the total number of overnight stays. Tourists from other countries accounted for 37.6 percent of overnight stays.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was achieved within the hotels and similar accommodation sector with a share of 94 percent.
