The Police found Weapons and explosive Devices in the North of Kosovo

During the inspection of seven locations in the north of Kosovo, the Kosovo police found weapons, ammunition, explosive devices and other military equipment.

In the joint statement of the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office and the Kosovo Police, it was stated that by order of the court, the Kosovo Police conducted checks at seven locations in connection with the events of September 24 in Banjska.

“We inform you that the checks were carried out at different locations, four in North Mitrovica, two in Zvečan and one in Banjska. During these checks, a certain amount of ammunition, Kalashnikovs, guns, and explosives were found in the basement of one of the three solitaires in North Mitrovica. ..,” the announcement reads.

As specified, 87 pieces of TM 100 explosives, three hand grenades (oil grenades), one AK-47 automatic weapon, one MRUD type anti-personnel mine, 63 electric detonators, 23 mechanical detonators, one activation watch, one M79 hand grenade, were seized. bags, radios, body armor, medical equipment, magazine vest, gas mask and batteries.

It is added that EULEX officials also participated in these controls, while KFOR was also present in the settlement of Tri Solitera in North Mitrovica, AA reports.

The Romanian army sent an additional contingent of 130 soldiers to participate in the NATO KFOR mission in Kosovo, the North Atlantic Alliance announced.

“More than 130 additional troops from Romania arrived in Kosovo on Friday to further strengthen NATO’s peacekeeping mission in Kosovo (KFOR), in addition to the two hundred British troops deployed earlier this month. The deployment of these additional troops comes after a violent attack on Kosovo police on September 24 and increasing tensions in the region,” NATO said.

The alliance pointed out that the peacekeeping operation in Kosovo is conducted by NATO according to Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council.

There are more than 4,500 soldiers from 27 countries in KFOR.
