At the request of the local authorities of the municipality of Neum, who asked for help in extinguishing the fire in the endangered parts of that municipality, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina gave consent for the engagement of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina today.

The helicopter crews are ready and the necessary coordination is being carried out with the local community in order to take the necessary actions to start the action to suppress the fire in the municipality of Neum, announced the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“After carrying out the mentioned actions and when all the weather conditions are favorable, the helicopters of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina will start operating in the mentioned area”.

The Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina remain committed to the execution of their mission to assist civil structures in responding to natural disasters throughout the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement said.

The fire in the Neum area has not yet been extinguished. Firefighters from Neum and Mostar prevented the fire from approaching houses in the village of Prapratnica. The situation is currently more favorable than yesterday, but due to the wind, forecasts cannot be given.

The fire line is ten kilometers long.
