The “RescueIT” international professional seminar on protection and rescue brought together approximately 170 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, and Slovenia in Prijedor, with the aim of exchanging experiences and improving response procedures for emergency situations.
Held for the third consecutive year, the seminar program includes lectures on firefighting in open areas and high-rise buildings, interventions involving electric vehicles and tunnels, triage during mass-casualty incidents, regional cooperation, and the use of drones.
Nikola Tramontana, from the Firefighting Association of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, emphasized that continuous training, adequate equipment, and the exchange of knowledge are crucial for the effective performance of firefighters—especially in scenarios such as urban flooding, which occurs when large volumes of water accumulate over a short period.
Nebojša Miljuš, Chief of the Prijedor Territorial Fire and Rescue Unit, stated that the event offers an opportunity to learn about new techniques and tactical approaches, as well as to gain insight into the experiences of fire services from across the region. Special attention will be devoted to the fires that affected the Herzegovina region this year.
The seminar is organized by the City of Prijedor, the Prijedor Territorial Fire and Rescue Unit, the city’s Civil Protection Department, and the Firefighting Association of Republika Srpska.
