The two-day session of the High and Judicial Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC) is being held in Sarajevo, and HJPC President Sanin Bogunić addressed reporters about the topics of the session, as well as the pressures on the judiciary in the case against the President of the Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the acting director of the RS Official Gazette Miloš Lukić, Klix.ba writes.
In the first part of today’s HJPC session, members discussed information on the implementation of the conclusions from the previous session and the activities of the HJPC President. The Draft Law on the HJPC was also discussed.
“Our usual topics are at the session, we are discussing the Draft Law on the HJPC, and appointments are scheduled for the second day of the session,” said Bogunić during a break between sessions.
Address by HJPC President Sanin Bogunić
He referred to the process against Dodik and Lukić that is being conducted at the Court of BiH and sent a message to politicians.
“In the previous period, the HJPC did not want to make a statement on this issue because we wanted not to influence the course of the proceedings. We believed that our reaction would generate comments, and that is not our goal. What I can say now, because the verdict is in two hours, is that the HJPC fully stands behind the court, and I have a message directly for Milorad Dodik and all other politicians in this country: ‘leave the judiciary of BiH alone, leave the judges and prosecutors to work based on facts and evidence. The judiciary is not a show and it is not a football match, refrain from commenting,'” he said.
Asked by reporters whether the judge was protected, given the numerous threats in the public, he stressed that she was allowed to decide on guilt in complete safety.
“She has had protection from before, we have institutions that deal with their safety, and at this moment the most important thing is for the judge to do her job based on facts and evidence and for the verdict to come from the judge’s head,” he concluded.
