The Production of the Golden Ball that Rodri received costs around 13,000 Euros

Rodrigo Hernandez, better known as Rodri, recently won the Ballon d’Or, an award jointly awarded by France Football and FIFA to the best footballer of the past year, and many are wondering how much money he received with the award.

In fact, the Ballon d’Or is an honorary award and does not come with any monetary benefits. Spanish newspaper Marca writes that it takes about 100 days to make the Ballon d’Or and that it is made of gold, so its production costs about 13,000 euros, but that is all that a footballer gets.

For players like Rodri who play for rich clubs for the sake of winning awards, money really does not matter, but it is a matter of prestige to receive this recognition for the best.

Rodri now earns around 15.6 million euros a year at Manchester City. Even before winning the Ballon d’Or, British media wrote that the management of the English club had prepared a new contract for the Spanish international, according to which he would have almost double his income. Manager Pep Guardiola insisted on this, wanting to ensure his stay at the club.

The midfielder’s market value, according to Transfermarkt, is estimated at 140 million euros.
