Today the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration officially handed over a new fire crane to the Professional Fire Brigade of the Sarajevo Canton.
The delivery took place in the Second Operative Sector at Stup and the Brigade Commander Ismet Tucak took over the keys from the Director of the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration Mustafa Kovač. For the purchase of the hydraulic articulated-telescopic platform, intended for the rescue of people and fire extinguishing at heights, the Board has allocated 400.000 BAM.
”Considering the configuration of the terrain in the Canton, as well as the domination of high buildings, this platform will significantly improve our work. This is the fourth vehicle that the Civil Defence acquired for the purposes of our Brigade in the last two years”, said Tucak.
The Director Kovač said this is about planned resources intended for the renewal of the fleet of the Fire Brigade. In this year, the purchase of three more vehicles is planned, including one technical vehicle and three fire engines, it was stated from the Sarajevo Canton.
”We are also slowly rejuvenating the composition of the Professional Fire Brigade. Last year, after the completion of training, 10 young professional firefighters were employed, and 16 apprentices are currently in training”, said Kovač, expressing the hope that the Cantonal Civil Protection Administration, in agreement with the Government of the Sarajevo Canton, will ensure the arrival of new workers as well.
He also announced that, from the funds of this administration, an additional dozen young firefighters will do their apprenticeships.
”This is necessary in order to achieve speed and operability. Older firefighters will train the new ones who will take full responsibility of this job in the future”, Kovač said.
