Princess Diana visited Bosnia and Herzegovina in August 1997, and the sentence she uttered in Tuzla still attracts attention today.

One journalist stated, among other things, that the women present were fighters, to which Diana said with a smile: “Because they are women.”

In addition to her selfless support for all victims of war, she especially showed with this statement that the fight for women’s rights was also important to her at all times.

“She was born in the wrong generation,” “She was way ahead of her time. Some people didn’t like that,” “I’m so sorry she’s no longer alive. She had her own problems, but she always spoke her mind without holding back and she stood up for the right people”, are some of the comments.

As part of her visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was organized by the non-governmental organization Landmine Survivors Network, Princess Diana spoke with landmine victims in Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zenica and Gradačac. She said that she did not want to meet with politicians.

“I’m not a politician. My interests are humanitarian and that’s why this tragedy struck me. How can countries that produce and trade weapons have a clear conscience while people are being destroyed?” she said, Klix.ba writes.
