The Streets in Sarajevo are empty, Authorities appeal to the Citizens to respect the Measures

Due to the worsened epidemiological situation in Canton Sarajevo (CS), it was decided that catering facilities should be closed for the next 14 days. Preparation and serving of food and drinks in the facilities are not allowed, which is why many have decided to turn to delivery or exclusively counter sales.

Even the busiest streets and gathering places in the city are empty, due to stricter epidemiological measures introduced in order to protect the health of the population.

The Crisis Staff of CS appeals to citizens not to travel to other cantons during the weekend because the epidemiological situation is bad in the rest of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) as well.

The conclusion on the ban on movement in that period was brought by the Government of CS on Thursday at the session due to the drastically worsened epidemiological situation in CS. Prime Minister Edin Forto said that the CS government would prepare a package of assistance for business entities who are banned from working, immediately after the adoption of the Proposal on Amendments to the Law on Mitigation of Negative Economic Consequences and Savings in CS, which will be discussed at the Assembly of CS next week.

According to the latest data, the analysis of 2.113 samples confirmed 822 new cases of coronavirus infection in CS. Of that number of newly infected, 512 (62.28 percent) belong to family clusters or contacts with previously infected persons. Unfortunately, 14 patients who were infected with the coronavirus died on Friday.

The population was appealed to strictly follow the already known measures related to a two-meter distance, frequent hand washing and hygiene, as well as avoiding gatherings and prolonged stays indoors.

Anyone who feels symptoms with suspicion on coronavirus, such as acute respiratory disorders, fever, infirmity, dry cough, shortness of breath, should stay at home and contact a family doctor for further medical treatment.

For the next 14 days, a new ban on movement is in force in the CS from Friday evening, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
