The tenth edition of the Čvrsnica Ultra Trail 2026 will be held on August 29th in the Blidinje Nature Park, namely on the trails of the Herzegovinian mountain beauty Čvrsnica, organized by the Croatian Mountaineering Society Prenj 1933. Mostar and the Visit Blidinje Association.
Čvrsnica will once again host numerous mountain running enthusiasts this year, and competitors will have the opportunity to choose from four attractive trails, varying in length and difficulty.
For those who are just trying their hand at mountain running, there is the Green Trail / The Spaghetti, a 10-kilometer trail with a total elevation of 380 meters. This little beauty leads via Ivan Dolci and Oka to Masna Luka and the Church of St. Elijah, and is intended for beginners, road runners, hikers and anyone who wants to take their first trail steps. The trail can also be described as a family trail – ideal for parents and children who want to discover the charms of mountain running together.
Those looking for a more serious challenge can expect the Yellow trail / The Good, a 25-kilometer trail with a total elevation of 1,500 meters. The route leads via Masna Luka and Borićevac, with a strong ascent towards Pločno, then via Pehar’s apartments and the mountain lodge Vilinac, all the way to the ascent of Veliki and Mali Vilinac. The course is characterized by strong ascents and descents and more technically demanding terrain, and offers the true spirit of mountain running and skyrunning. It is intended for more experienced trail runners, but also for those who are ready to take a step towards longer distances.
For the bravest, there is the Blue trail / The Bad (Sky), a 34-kilometer trail with a total elevation of 2,300 meters. This demanding route leads the competitors to Pločno (2228 m above sea level), the highest peak of Čvrsnica, then towards the mountain lodge Vilinac, Hajdučki vrata, Veliki Vilinac and via Mali Vilinac back to the finish line.
The Bad holds a special place in the history of the race – the course is the first certified skyrunning course in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Competitors can expect technically demanding terrain, single track sections, steep climbs and descents, and a climb to the two highest peaks of Čvrsnica – Pločno and Veliki Vilinac.
And for those for whom even 34 kilometers and 2300 meters of ascent are not enough, this year the most difficult challenge – Red trail / The Ugly – returns. This brutal 50-kilometer trail with as much as 4,000 meters of total ascent is intended exclusively for experienced trail runners who have already completed races longer than 40 kilometers.
The Ugly starts in Grabovica, and already in the first 9 kilometers the competitors are expected to climb almost 1,800 meters towards Žlijeb, Tisame and Hajdučka vrata. After that, the route leads through Vitlenica, Badajac and Blidinje, through Masna Luka, towards Pločno and the mountain lodge Vilinac, and the final part brings the ascent to Veliki Vilinac and the descent to the finish line.
From the first trail steps on The Spaghetti, through the demanding sections of The Good and certified The Bad, all the way to the harsh challenge of The Ugly – Čvrsnica Ultra Trail 2026 will once again bring together runners, the mountain and unforgettable scenes of one of the most beautiful mountain areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the organizers announced.
