The Trial in Case of Murder of Dzenan Memic continued

The trial in the case of Zijad Mutap and others continued before the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the testimony of Prof. was rejected in the previous proceedings. Doctor Kemal Dizdarevic without an explanation from the presiding judge Branko Perić, in the second-instance proceedings, the Appellate Panel accepted the Prosecution’s request and called Dr. Dizdarevic as a witness.

At today’s hearing, the reproduction of two expert witnesses, as well as the testimony of Kemal Dizdarević, were all related to the fifth point of the indictment – the existence or non-existence of amnesia in Alisa Mutap. The defense insisted on a concussion that would have caused retrograde amnesia, i.e. loss of memory. However, none of the findings that were made on the night Alisa Mutap was brought to the Clinical Centre Sarajevo were diagnosed as having a concussion.

“Dr. Kemal Dizdarević removed the dilemma – there was no concussion, and any medical history cannot serve as a surrogate for that alleged concussion. What the patient says is checked even after the check, dr. Dizdarević, whose area it is, and also Žujo, ruled out a concussion,” said Ifet Feraget, lawyer of the Memic family.

From the testimony of neurosurgeon Kemal Dizdarević, we could hear details about the team appointed by Sebija Izetbegović, and by order of the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor’s Office, which included him, at that moment as the head of Neurosurgery. The finding was made in July 2016. A colleague with whom he was in the team, dr. Jasminka Vranić demanded from him to change his findings, that is, his opinion, which he refused.

“When one expert calls another to change his opinion on the findings, that is a signal, and that finding was that Alisa Mutap did not have a concussion that caused amnesia,” Feraget points out.

What forensic medical expert Hamza Žujo said for the first time today, and in response to a question from the member of the Appellate Council Azra Miletić, is that Dženan Memic was face to face with the assailant at the moment he was hit. And all this should have been finished a long time ago, are the words of Muris Memić, who says – all this was caused by Dailda Burzić and her investigation.

After the testimony of a medical expert, as well as the testimony of a neurosurgeon at today’s hearing, although lexically complicated for the public, the conclusion was clear that the medical documentation does not mention a concussion. With a concussion, there must be a loss of consciousness. If there is no objective evidence for this, and the patient presents total amnesia, this raises suspicion of amnesia, are the concluding words in the testimony of Kemal Dizdarević. The next hearing is scheduled for June 26.
