The US State Department has issued a Warning for all Americans traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina to increase caution due to possible terrorist attacks, landmines, but also coronavirus.

The warning was issued for several other countries with identical wording.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been marked as an orange zone, by which the State Department warns Americans to think again before deciding to travel to BiH due to possible terrorist attacks.

Terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets/shopping malls, local government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, major sporting and cultural events, educational institutions, airports, and other public areas, is stated by the Department of State.

Minefields and land mines are present throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. While suspected hazardous areas are normally clearly marked, several people are killed or injured each year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Travel Health Notice for Bosnia and Herzegovina due to COVID-19, indicating a high level of COVID-19 in the country.

Your risk of contracting COVID-19 and developing severe symptoms may be lower if you are fully vaccinated with an FDA authorized vaccine. Before planning any international travel, please review the CDC’s specific recommendations for fully vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers, is stated on the Department of State official website.
