The Vote in the UN General Assembly on the Resolution on Srebrenica has been postponed

The vote in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly on the Srebrenica resolution, originally scheduled for May 2nd, has been postponed and will not take place before May 6th, according to UN diplomatic sources.

The reason for the postponement, as known so far, is that the final text of the resolution has not yet been finalized due to numerous suggestions and meetings with the resolution sponsors.

This is the second time the vote on the resolution has been postponed. Initially scheduled for April 27th, then May 2nd.

The draft resolution proposes that July 11th be declared the International Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide, to be observed annually.

The resolution document calls, among other things, for an unequivocal condemnation of any denial of the Srebrenica genocide, as well as actions that glorify those convicted of war crimes, including those responsible for the Srebrenica genocide.
