The administration of the President of the United States of America sent the Senate a series of new diplomatic nominations, among which is the proposal that Ronald Johnson be appointed as the new US ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As announced in the official announcement of the White House from June 1, Johnson has been nominated for the position of ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary representative of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His appointment must now be confirmed by the US Senate.

Johnson has a decades-long military and international career, during which he held a number of command and advisory positions in the US armed forces and security structures. He was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, and graduated in management from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. He additionally received his military education at prestigious institutions, including the Amphibious Warfare School, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, and the Naval War College in Rhode Island.

He began his career in the Marines in 1980, and during his service he participated in numerous international operations and missions, including the Gulf War, operations in Iraq, and the evacuation of American citizens from Beirut. He also served as a United Nations military observer in Lebanon and Sinai, as well as various command functions within the US Marine Corps. After retiring from military service in 2010, he founded a consulting company that cooperates with partners around the world, and for his work he was awarded numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal.

If he receives the support of the Senate, Johnson will inherit the previous American diplomatic leadership in Sarajevo and take office at a time when the United States of America remains one of the key international actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
