During the previous 30 years, the World Bank (WB) has supported Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) through 81 projects, investing 2.5 billion United States (U.S.) dollars, it was said at the meeting of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Zoran Tegeltija, with the Vice President of the WB for International Development Association (IDA), Akihiko Nishio.
Of the stated amount, 63 projects were financed by IDA, which were soft loans with a grant share of about 80 percent, in the total amount of about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.
It was jointly stated that the IDA financed to a large extent the significant needs of the reconstruction of BiH, especially in the period from 1996 to 2010, when BiH started borrowing, mainly on a commercial basis.
”The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the realization of the activities of the authorities in BiH to become an IDA donor. The intention of the authorities in BiH is to enter this process from 2023 and to come close to donating the amount stipulated by the IDA rules in two to three years. In this way, BiH wants to point out the importance of the help it received from IDA, but also to join the European Union (EU) member states, which are regular IDA donors,” it was announced by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
