mekticSo far there is no indication that the migrant routes could affect B&H, as emphasized during yesterday’s meeting of the Minister of Security of B&H Dragan Mektic and the delegation of the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), led by Director General Michael Spindelegger.

They discussed work plans and activities of this international organization, given that B&H is its full and very active member since 2011.

Director Spindelegger emphasized that the ICMPD is planning to be a platform for political discussions of the Member States on migration in the future, in order to take a unique position on this growing challenge for the EU and the region before making any important decisions in this area.

By supporting the plans for future activities of ICMPD, Mektic emphasized that B&H is particularly interested in trainings in the area of migration and asylum, and ICMPD is willing to organize these kinds of trainings at the regional level.

Minister Mektic introduced the delegation of ICMPD with B&H’s preparations for a possible massive arrival of refugees and migrants, emphasizing that there are no indications for that for now.
