There is no Gas Suspension in the Federation-the Problem is postponed, not solved

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will not run out of gas, for now. This was concluded from the Government of the Federation, which – with the support of the Government of the RS, nevertheless agreed to continue negotiations on the details of the new contract and the price of gas transportation.

During the day, the citizens of Sarajevo Canton were disturbed by the information about the suspension of gas, which was presented by Nedeljko Elek, the director of the Sarajevo-gas company from East Sarajevo. The decision is still frozen, but the problem is not solved.

There is no gas suspension in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina – this is the final conclusion after a whole day of correspondence, accusations and blackmail. A solution is still pending, but negotiations are continuing. They ordered it from the entity governments.

“Regarding the problem with the price of gas that has befallen us in the past few days, I must say that with the help of both entity governments we have reached an agreement that there will be no suspension of gas deliveries in the territory of the Federation and that we are obliged to hold a joint meeting with the two entities at the beginning of the new year Minister of Energy and two company directors to agree on further steps”, said Vedran Lakić, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of FBiH.

The reason for the announced suspension of delivery, as stated by Sarajevo-gas from East Sarajevo, is the failure to agree with Energoinvest on the price of gas transportation. The new proposal meant an increase from 11.2 to 14.2 percent, which Energoinvest rejected.

“They are already paying 33 marks for transport to BH Gas and I don’t know why this price is unrealistic now.” On the other hand, they cannot determine for us what the transport price will be when the gas pipeline is owned by us, and the company is owned by the Government of the RS”, says Nedeljko Elek, director of Sarajevo-gas Istočno Sarajevo.

“We inform the public and especially the users and consumers of natural gas that in the past few days it has been faced with unilateral ultimate and financially completely unrealistic demands of the natural gas transporter from Republika Srpska Sarajevo-gas Istočno Sarajevo, which refers to the price and conditions of gas transportation, and which refer to part of the transport route managed by Sarajevo-gas Istočno Sarajevo”, announced Energoinvest.

Problem postponed, but not solved. If the attitudes remain the same next year, and there is no agreement, the Canton of Sarajevo will still be in a big problem. Because gas supplies are minimal.

“In the event of a complete suspension, we are in very good communication with the heating plants, we will stop the flow of gas to all users except households, and in that case we will run out of gas in less than a day”, emphasized Adnan Đugum, executive director of KJKP Sarajevogas.

“Our capacities, when it comes to heating oil and fuel oil, are fully loaded and at this temperature the heating systems can heat consumers for 15-20 days. Everything depends on the external temperature,” said Sejfo Ušanović, director of KJKP Toplane Sarajevo.

Therefore, the problem of lack of supplies, but also finding an acceptable solution for suppliers and users, is currently frozen. It’s a holiday, so the authorities’ work is on hold. Luckily, the temperatures are also above average, Federalna writes.
