This is how Senator Dole used to speak about BiH

Former Republican senator, multiple presidential candidate, World War II hero, and great friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Robert Bob Dole passed away on Sunday at the age of 98. He said in February this year that he was fighting advanced lung cancer.

”They are not asking us to die for Bosnia, they are asking for an opportunity to defend themselves, ” Dole spoke about our country.

Former President of the United States (U.S.), Bill Clinton did not want to deal with BiH, so he left it to the Europeans. Dole believed that the incompetence of the Europeans only prolongs the war and the massacre.

”In my opinion, we should urge our colleagues, the British, the French, the Dutch, and others, to leave, to lift the arms embargo, and to let the Bosnians fight on their own, ” Dole said at the time.

Using his position as Senate leader, he finally forced Clinton to take more active action. He served for 35 years in the U.S.Congress, from 1961 to 1996. To recall, in 2019, at the session of the City Council of the City of Sarajevo, a unanimous decision was made to award the “Key of the City of Sarajevo” award to Dole.
