Reisu-l-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Husein ef. Kavazovic attended the central event of the manifestation “Days of Bosnian Spirituality – Karici 2022” a few days ago, where he gave a speech for which he was criticized by several political parties.
”These days I hear voices saying that they are counting us.
I want to tell you here quite frankly, if we hadn’t counted ourselves when it was necessary, this place would be in someone else’s hands, and we wouldn’t be here today.
I want to tell you, of course, we will be counted. We want to do it for our children. We must know that they came for our children, many of our children are no longer with us. Our fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and children.
Where we were not counted, we no longer count people, we cannot count them, they are gone. So, be smart. They have their story, and we have our story, our Bosnian story, our Muslim story. We want today’s children to grow up freely, we want our children to be Muslims. We want our children to live in this country with dignity so that no one threatens them.
This gathering tonight is a gathering in which we should look each other in the eye and know that others will not take care of us. They count themselves, we must count ourselves. I am asking God that this night will pass blessedly, that our prayers may be accepted by Allah and that our nation may become stronger, that we may be a strong community of Muslims, true, sincere believers.
Please, choose your friends, it is important that you have one Abu Bakr in your life if you know how to choose a friend, your life will be meaningful and will be safe, because a true friend does not leave a friend, and everyone be friends of Allah.”
To recall, the first letter was sent to Kavazovic by the People and Justice party, which got the impression that the Islamic Community in BiH “favors one political party and candidate”, so the Islamic Community replied that it was an attempt to discipline, which was the only thing HDZ BiH was doing.
The HDZ BiH then reacted to these allegations by saying that they want peace and coexistence, not counting, which was talked about by the reisu-l-ulema, Husein ef. Kavazovic.
In his letter to Kavazovic, Niksic openly states that, in contrast to the People and Justice, the Islamic Community supports the SDA and their leader Bakir Izetbegovic, the party’s candidate for the Presidency of BiH.
