This year’s 49th International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair, in Gradacac, will be held from 24th to 27th August. It is the oldest specialized fair event in our country, which in addition to the exhibition part also offers a number of educational and entertainment content. They are also planning several novelties this year.

“We have signed a protocol with the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics – University of Tuzla (UNTZ). This year we are engaged in agrotourism. We also have a protocol with the Faculty of Agriculture – University of Sarajevo (UNSA), we deal with the most current topics in agriculture. One of them is the importance of investing in domestic agricultural production,” said Ensar Mesanovic, director of the Gradacac Tourist Board.

The holding of this year’s Fair, with 15.000 BAM, was helped by the relevant cantonal ministry, which this year set aside a record 11 and a half million BAM to support agriculture.

”We are here specifically, when it comes to fruit production, since we are talking about the Plum Fair, there have been some changes, increases compared to last year, but these increases relate to the way in which intensive fruit production is encouraged,” said Emir Begic, Minister of Economy, Agriculture, and Forestry of Tuzla Canton (TC).

There are different tasks of the Gradacac Fair, especially when it comes to the local community.

“That the agricultural production, but also the food industry, in the area of the City of Gradacac, and I am convinced beyond, will be significantly improved, thanks primarily to the educational part of the fair which contributed to modern agrotechnical measures applied for the first time in Gradacac,” said Edis Dervisagic, Mayor of Gradacac.

This year, for the first time, Gastroavlija will be organized on Hazna Lake, where the production of traditional savory and sweet dishes of this region will be presented, Federalna writes.
