Three people have been detained, while five are still being sought, in connection with the incident at the memorial to the fallen Croatian soldiers on Pješčara, in the municipality of Travnik, which happened on Friday.

As stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Central Bosnia (MUP KSB), on July 19, around 11 a.m., it was reported to the Travnik police station that a video appeared on the Tik-Tok social network showing that on July 18, at around 2:14 p.m., several unknown persons came to the memorial plateau for the fallen Croatian defenders “Pješčar” and that on that occasion, among others, they invited “Matans” – Croats to come and they “fight” each other, with the presentation of various threats and provocations.

Immediately after receiving the report, the police officers, in cooperation with the competent county prosecutor’s office, started taking measures and actions within their jurisdiction.

On that occasion, eight persons were identified, seven of whom are persons from the controversial video, while the eighth person is from Široki Brijeg, who participated in arranging the “reckoning” in Pješčara.

Two persons from the area of Zenica-Doboj canton and one person from the area of Sarajevo canton have been deprived of their freedom, while the others are being intensively searched for. Given that it is about people from different counties, members of the Federal Police Administration are also involved in the mentioned activities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the KSB stated.

The press release added that a special emphasis in the activities of the police and the prosecutor’s office will be aimed at determining the reasons why the destination of the “reckoning” was chosen Pješčara, and measures and actions will be taken against all persons connected with the mentioned event in connection with the criminal offense of “inciting national, racial and religious hatred, discord or intolerance”.

The Ministry of Interior called on citizens to trust in the competent institutions, and to behave responsibly, especially on social networks, in order to avoid legal sanctions.
