Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina Up Slightly in Early 2025, Driven by Foreign Visitors

In the period January – March 2025, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina made 294,860 visits, which is 1.9 percent more than in the same period in 2024. Domestic tourists made 9.4 percent fewer visits than in the same period in 2024, while foreign tourists made 9.4 percent more visits than in the same period in the previous year.

In the period January – March 2025, tourists made 655,369 overnight stays, which is two percent more than in the same period in 2024.

Domestic tourists made 7.1 fewer overnight stays than in the same period in 2024, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was 6.9 percent higher than in the same period in the previous year. In the total number of overnight stays, the share of domestic tourists was 32 percent, while the share of foreign tourists was 68 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded by tourists from: Croatia (31.5 percent), Serbia (17 percent), Turkey (8.4 percent), Slovenia (7.7 percent), Montenegro (4.2 percent) and China (3.9 percent), which together make up 72.7 percent of the total number of overnight stays. Tourists from other countries recorded the remaining 27.3 percent of overnight stays.

By type of accommodation facility, the highest number of overnight stays was recorded within the Hotels and similar accommodation sector, with a share of 94.9 percent.
