pocitelj4This year as well, the Tourist Board of the Čapljina Municipality expects hundreds of thousands of visitors in the historical town of Počitelj.

This department of the municipality stated that the season will begin next month and will last until the end of October. Numerous cultural events will be organized in that period.

Traditionally, the largest number of tourists is expected from Croatia. So far, the Italians, Spaniards, Germans and French were also numerous.

“Not counting individual guests and tourists, within organized visits during the season around 130.000 people visit Počitelj,” stated the Tourist Board of the Čapljina Municipality.

It is difficult to speak of the exact number because entrance fee is not being collected since the 1990s. Therefore, organization which leads such register does not dispose with exact data, and they hope that the Municipality will arrange this field through its offices.

Počitelj is already preparing for the season. Housekeepers already arrange hospitality facilities, terraces, souvenir shops and on-the-road booths. As in previous years, everything from fruit to handicrafts will be offered to tourists.

Also planned are plays, exhibitions, colonies, and many film screenings.

Počitelj, a little town in Herzegovina made of stone, is situated near the highway M17 Sarajevo-Mostar-Čapljina, three kilometers north from Čapljina.

Medieval fortresses dominate the cliffs above the Neretva Rivers, while the settlement is located underneath.

Oriental construction styles dominate in Počitelj. Together with Mediterranean style, it gives this settlement a special dimension.
