Until September 9th of this year, a unique tram named “Nostalgia” will operate in the city of Sarajevo.
Tram “Nostalgia” will operate on line 1 until September 9th , every day from 10:00 until 12:00 o’clock and 18:00 until 20:00 o’clock. Passengers will have the opportunity to see unique photographs of Sarajevo, Budapest, Prague and Vienna from beginning of the century, but also to listen to audio tourist guide in Bosnian and English language.
Tram “Nostalgia“ is part of the program of marking the 100th anniversary of World War I of the Embassy of Hungary in BiH and Hungarian Memorial Committee of the 100th anniversary of World War I.
Ambassador of Hungary József Pandur attended the first departure of tram “Nostalgia” at the tram station in front of the Railway Station in Sarajevo today.
“With this tram we want to symbolize the road to modernization and progress and not only historically speaking,” said Ambassador Pandur, adding the Hungary, as a member of the EU, is ready to provide assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina for its integration.
Tram “Nostalgia” started operating so we could remember the period before the beginning of World War I, which was hugely significant for the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina and relations between the two countries.
Secretary-General of GRAS Avdo Vatrić said the tram is a replica of the tram from 1895.
“The Siemens Company made the tram and it operated on our streets. I am glad the Hungarian Embassy had such a magnificent proposal and we gladly accepted to participate in it. We are grateful to the Hungarian Embassy which enabled this promotion of our tram and our services,” Vatrić said.
The ticket price is 1.60 BAM, thus the regular ticket price. Vatrić said that they hoped citizens will feel nice and get reminded of old times.
Tram “Nostalgia” will be driven by a veteran GRAS tram driver Salih Mašnić who will wear traditional outfit. He said he is honored with the act of driving this tram.
