Transporters gathered around the BiH Logistics Consortium ended their protests and lifted the blockade of border crossings, customs terminals and local roads, after reaching an agreement with government institutions at all levels.

The President of the Consortium, Mirsad Durmić, confirmed that the vehicles would be withdrawn and that normal traffic was being restored. The agreement is the result of several days of meetings with government representatives, including the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, who promised the support of the entity governments in implementing the demands.

The transporters’ demands included scheduling an emergency session of the Council of Ministers of BiH, fiscal relief, unified customs procedures and the introduction of 24-hour inspection duty at border crossings.

Although the protests ended faster than expected, the two-day blockade left significant economic consequences. Experts believe that the damage will be repaired, but transporters emphasize that they expect the government’s promises to not remain just words.
