U.S. President Donald Trump has called on NATO to urgeDenmark to leave Greenland, arguing that Copenhagen is unableto ensure the island’s security, while the United States can.

“NATO, tell Denmark to get out of here, right now! Two dog sleds are not enough! Only the U.S. can handle this!” Trumpwrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He reacted to a report stating that Denmark’s Defence Intelligence Service warned last year about Russian and Chinese military ambitions in Greenland and the Arctic.

Trump has repeatedly said that Greenland should become part of the United States, emphasizing its strategic importance for U.S. national security and the defence of the “free world.”

The authorities of Denmark and Greenland have warned the United States not to occupy the island, stressing that they expect respect for their shared territorial integrity.
