Turkish Pegasus establishes Flights from Tuzla

Turkish airline Pegasus Airlines will officially commence direct flights from Tuzla International Airport to Istanbul starting August this year, as confirmed by the director of Tuzla Airport, Dzevad Halilcevic.

Pegasus Airlines, expanding its operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) after Sarajevo, will establish a direct route from Tuzla to Istanbul starting August 3rd, 2024.

According to information, the Turkish airline received official approval from the BiH Directorate of Civil Aviation (BHDCA) two days ago.

“Pegasus Airlines has announced regular flights starting August 3rd this year, within our summer schedule, which runs until the end of October. We now need to finalize the signing of four or five contracts to formalize our cooperation,” Halilcevic explained.

Pegasus aircraft will transport passengers once a week on Saturdays, with the ticket sales system expected to be launched soon. Halilcevic emphasizes that this cooperation is of great importance for Tuzla Airport.

“Pegasus Airlines’ connections are very good for further travel. All airports in BiH and the region are striving to establish cooperation with them, and alongside Sarajevo, we have succeeded. We believe our cooperation will be long-term, but it will depend on passenger response,” Halilcevic stated.

According to unofficial information, cooperation with another airline is likely to be established next week.

With the arrival of Pegasus, Wizz Air is also adjusting its business strategy by increasing the number of weekly operations. In September, weekly flights from Memmingen to Tuzla will increase from three to five. Additionally, Wizz Air is adding a third flight to Basel and a fourth to Dortmund.

With Pegasus’ operation, Tuzla will ultimately see 13 weekly flights, or 17 if charter flights operated by Tailwind and Freebird to Antalya are included, Klix.ba reports.
