bosnia and franceThe Ambassador of the French Republic in Bosnia and Herzegovina Roland Gilles and Deputy Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mladen Ćavar signed today two agreements that will contribute to the improvement of cooperation between the two countries, which relate to the readmission of persons residing without permission and agreement on youth mobility.

They signed the Implementation Protocol between the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Government of the French Republic on the implementation of the Agreement between the Council of Ministers and the European Community on readmission of persons residing without permission and agreement between the Council of Ministers and the governments of France, which is related to the mobility of young people.

The official signing of the agreement was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the two delegations at which they discussed cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and France.

Ambassador of France in BiH Roland Gilles said at a press conference that the agreements fit into the wider framework of respecting European standards relating to the situation of the abolition of visas in 2010 and with the desire to ensure freedom of movement for all citizens.

“Agreements witness the quality of relationship that exists between France and BiH in particular in the field of security and cooperation between different police agencies and it is done in continuity between Bosnia and Herzegovina and France,” explained Gilles.

He stressed that France is working intensively on preparing the donors’ conference that should help to secure funds for the reconstruction and mitigating the damages caused by floods and landslides.

Ćavar stressed that the agreements contribute to bringing closer the two countries, and the agreement on youth mobility gives the possibility of simplifying the movement of young people who can come to Bosnia and Herzegovina and France to exchange experiences and improve their professional knowledge and thus learn about the culture of another country.

Young people between 18 and 35 years of age who want to study or work in France will have a chance to stay there for 24 months, and these signed agreements will ease the conditions for it.
