Two more People were arrested in the Continuation of the ‘Pyramid’ Action

Police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina carried out activities under the operational action codenamed “Pyramid”, whose goal is to prevent organized smuggling of migrants.

In the continuation of the action, searches were carried out in the area of Visoko and Kiseljak in residential buildings and premises whose owners/users are suspected persons. The activities in question were undertaken in accordance with the orders of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of the commission of the criminal offense “Organizing a group or association for the commission of the criminal offense of smuggling migrants” from Article 189 a paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in in connection with the criminal offense “Human smuggling” from Article 189 of the CC of BiH, paragraphs (1), (2), (3) and (4).

Suspects were interrogated as suspects and handed over to the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office, whereupon the suspects were remanded in custody.

We remind you that, in the last six months, part of an international organized criminal group tried to smuggle or smuggled over 600 people, including over 100 minors, through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and they made a financial profit of more than six million convertible marks. The searches were previously carried out in 16 locations in Bihać, Cazin, Breza, Visoko, Sarajevo, Kakanj and Velika Kladuša, during which 14 persons were deprived of their freedom. The activities carried out by the organizational unit of the BiH Border Police for the prevention of cross-border organized crime were carried out together with the Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia and EUROPOL, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

Support in the implementation, in which over 150 police officers participated, was provided by the police officers of the MUP of the Una-Sana Canton, while during the investigation, continuous support to the Border Police of BiH was provided by the Intelligence and Security Agency of BiH and the Service for Affairs with Foreigners, it was announced from Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
