United States (U.S.) intelligence agencies have warned of a significant threat of violence from domestic extremists linked to conspiracy theories about alleged voter fraud in the upcoming presidential election on November 5th.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have cautioned law enforcement agencies that extremists could target candidates, officials, poll workers, journalists, and judges.
According to the intelligence report, potential threats include physical attacks and violence at polling stations, voter registration sites, and campaign rally venues.
In a joint report with the FBI, the DHS stated that the U.S. “remains in an environment of heightened, dynamic threat” and will continue sharing information with partner law enforcement agencies about the risks posed by domestic extremists in the context of the presidential election.
