U.S. Embassy: Dodik is wrong if he thinks the U.S. will stand aside while he pushes BiH into Conflict

The Embassy of the United States (U.S.) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) announced regarding the statement of the President of the Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, that he will declare the entity’s independence in the event that the Office of the High Representative (OHR) passes the Law on State Property.

The embassy reiterated that RS is an entity within the state of BiH.

“It is an integral part of the state, but neither the RS nor the Federation of BiH (FBiH) exist outside of BiH,” the statement said.

They add that the Constitution of BiH does not provide for the right to separate an entity or any other lower administrative unit.

“The U.S. has made it clear on several occasions that it will act to counter the anti-Dayton actions, and secession is an anti-Dayton action. Milorad Dodik is wrong if he thinks that the U.S.will stand aside while he pushes BiH into the conflict,” the embassy said.
