The European Football Union (UEFA) announced today that the maximum ticket price that a home club can charge visiting fans will be reduced in the three men’s continental competitions for which it is responsible.

Starting this season, the most expensive ticket for away fans will be 60 euros in the Champions League, 40 euros in the Europa League and 20 euros in the Conference League.

Next season, the price of the most expensive ticket in the Champions League will be further reduced to 50 euros, in the Europa League it will drop to 35 euros, while in the Conference League it will remain the same.

“By introducing more fan-friendly rules, we are continuing our mission to ensure football remains an inclusive sport where fans who travel across Europe to cheer on their teams are valued and recognized,” said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.

The decision was made after consultation with the European Club Association (ECA) and the Football Supporters of Europe (FSE).

“The modified cap on ticket prices is further recognition of how crucial away fans are to the atmosphere at European club matches,” said FSE president Ronan Eveyn.

From this season, the Champions League and Europa League are played under a different format, with 36 teams instead of 32, and with 144 games in the first phase of the competition instead of the previous 96, Beta writes.
