The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk hosted a delegation that included the representative of the Government of Catalonia/Delegation for Southeast Europe Eric Hauck and the general secretary of the MedCities network Josep Canals, and the representative of District 11 Almir Kasumagić.

Canals presented the international organization MedCities, which brings together 73 Mediterranean cities, and the idea of holding this year’s general assembly of Medcities in Sarajevo, it was announced from Sarajevo Canton.

Hauck particularly emphasized the importance of establishing a direct airline between Barcelona and Sarajevo (Vueling) with the aim of establishing better economic and cultural ties between the two friendly cities. In this sense, promotional events will be organized in front of the City Hall, and in Barcelona Square, where the traditional Catalan “tower of people” will be displayed.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Uk emphasized the importance of further strengthening the already well-established cultural and economic ties between Barcelona and Sarajevo and emphasized that the Sarajevo Canton Government will continue to provide all necessary support and assistance in this regard.
