UNHCR in Bosnia and Herzegovina has once again donated valuable equipment for the needs of the civil protection services of the Una-Sana Canton (USC) and the City of Bihać.

UNHCR donated 25 dehumidifiers, which will be used to repair damage in flooded areas in December last year.

“In its activities, UNHCR always tries to help those environments and local communities that have taken care of refugees. The Una-Sana Canton and the region of Bihać have been particularly affected by migration since 2018, and that is why we want to express our gratitude for all that has been done for those people in need. The value of the donated equipment is 25,500 BAM, and the goal is to help people affected by the floods at the end of last year. This is also the result of excellent cooperation with the cantonal and city authorities,” said Lucie Gagne, the UNHCR Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the coming period, the City of Bihać will focus on the prevention and reduction of the risk of disasters in general through strengthening the capacities of the City Civil Protection Service.
