Union Consumer Basket in BiH amounts to 3,157 BAM

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for February this year amounts to 3,157.40 BAM.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for December 2024 was 1,428.00 BAM (the latest data published by the Federal Institute of Statistics). The minimum salary according to the Decision of the Government of the Federation of BiH is 1,000.00 BAM. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the average salary is 45.23 percent. The coverage of the trade union consumer basket by the minimum salary is 31.67 percent.

When creating the trade union consumer basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living expenses of a four-member family consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in elementary school.

The consumer basket itself consists of the following categories: food – 44.61 percent, housing and utilities – 13.82 percent, hygiene and health maintenance – 9.33 percent, education and culture – 10.14 percent, clothing and footwear – 11.40 percent, transportation – 4.37 percent and household maintenance – 6.33 percent.

In the food category, prices from three shopping centers for 86 items were used.

When it comes to hygiene and health maintenance, costs for ten items were included, and for housing and utilities, costs for six items were included, according to a statement from the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
