US Embassy: A Step on the dangerous Path that Dodik has chosen

The Embassy of the United States in Bosnia and Herzegovina reacted to today’s announcement by the president of the entity of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, that the government of the RS will terminate all official contacts with representatives of the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

The US Embassy, in its reaction published on its official Twitter profile, emphasizes that this is another step on the dangerous path that Dodik has chosen – the path of isolation and authoritarian rule.

“We will not help a regime that uses authoritarian tactics against its own people or that uses benevolent foreign aid to support unconstitutional or anti-Dayton activities,” the Embassy’s reaction states.

Dodik’s increasing rejection of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s long-standing partners and embrace of authoritarian leaders is damaging Republika Srpska. Dodik’s desperate moves are mortgaging away his own residents’ futures to support his regime and corrupt interests.

The United States has longstanding working relationships with Republika Srpska institutions, and we will continue providing assistance to the people of Republika Srpska as we have been doing all these years.

It is a path that does not benefit the residents of Republika Srpska, the residents Dodik claims to be protecting, it is stated in the reaction of the US Embassy in BiH.
