Yesterday’s verdict in the case of Jadranko Prlic et al. represents an important step towards holding to account those individuals responsible for the tremendous suffering of the people of BiH, as announced by the Embassy of the US in BiH.

The Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) confirmed the first-instance verdicts that were pronounced in 2013 to Jadranko Prlic, Bruno Stojic, Slobodan Praljak, Milivoj Petkovic, Valentin Coric and Berislav Pusic, who were found guilty of crimes committed against the Muslim-Bosniak population in the so called Croatia’s Republic of Herceg-Bosna (HRHB) and they were sentenced to a total of 111 years of imprisonment.

The U.S. Embassy in BiH noted the judgment of the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).  The United States supports the critically important work of the ICTY and respects its ruling.

“The verdict in the case of Prlic et al. is an important step towards holding to account those individuals responsible for the tremendous suffering of the people of BiH. We hope that it can provide some sense of justice and closure to the victims and their families,” as announced by the US Embassy.

They urged on all parties to respect this verdict and to turn to the continuous engagement on the reconciliation and peaceful coexistence that is essential to the future of a stable, secure BiH that safeguards the rights of all of its citizens.
