Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sifet Podžić, met today with the US Defense Attaché in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brigadier Eric R. Adams.

Minister Podžić thanked Defense Attaché Adams for the support and assistance provided by the US Government to the defense institutions of BiH, stressing the fact that “the United States of America is our most important strategic partner and that bilateral cooperation in the field of defense is at a very high level”.

The cooperation between BiH and the USA in the field of defense is reflected in the implementation of fundamentally important projects for the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH such as the procurement of new helicopters for the Armed Forces of BiH, donation of multipurpose wheeled vehicle Humvee, modern demining equipment and announced programs for the acquisition of flight simulators and additional helicopters for the needs of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This assistance and support of the US Government are significant for strengthening the capacities of the BiH Armed Forces, thus helping our armed forces to maintain the achieved standards in training and the required level of readiness for carrying out their mission and tasks, as well as for maintaining the level of interoperability and compatibility with NATO forces,” stressed the Minister Podžić.

Adams thanked Podžić for his time and the opportunity to talk and conveyed the determination of the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina to continue providing support and assistance to the defense institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming period.

He wished Podžić a calmer and less stressful period after the end of his mandate as Defense Minister and the continuation of engagement, useful for society and the state, bearing in mind the experience gained by holding extremely important and demanding roles in the past period, the Press Service of the Ministry of Defense of BiH announced.
