The USA Embassy Appeals for Immediate Possible Adoption of the Law on Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing

us_embassyThe USA Embassy is disappointed with the fact that the B&H Parliamentary Assembly once again was not able to reach a consensus and has failed to adopt the draft law on prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing.

The PR Office of the USA Embassy in B&H said for Agency Fena that this law is necessary to improve the ability of B&H to fight money laundering and financing of terrorism and for B&H to have laws that are in accordance with international standards.

“We strongly appeal for the immediate adoption of the law. If B&H does not react, the result of that inaction would be that international financial transactions for B&H can be under greater control and thus delays. There could be a negative impact on remittances and working places that rely on earnings from exports, and that could be one more obstacle for foreign investments, which are necessary for opening of new working places”, said PR Office of USA Embassy for Agency Fena.
