ARS_AEVIArt Depot Ars Aevi collection with art pieces by the most important artists of the world reopened today for the public, after a very long time, along with a ceremony. The valuable collection of art works of 150 world artists is once again available to the public and is located at the Art Depot, reconstructed by the Italian government.

President of Foundation Ars Aevi Ilija Šimić greeted the audience, and emphasized that Ars Aevi managed to survive despite many difficulties.

He believes that this a new beginning for the Ars Aevi project, which has a very important dimension- it is fully internationally positioned, which is very important for our small country. He stated that Ars Aevi will be positioned as an identity symbol of Sarajevo City.

Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić stressed that a great treasure has been locked for a long time, adding that this is an art collection that is estimated as the most valuable in SEE.

“There is no modern or capital city in the world that does not have a museum of contemporary arts. We have to show this collection to everyone that comes to Sarajevo and in that regard to be classified among the European capitals” said Komšić.

Ambassador of Italy in B&H Ruggero Corrias recalls that upon arrival to Sarajevo last year, he very quickly realized what a treasure this city has, and his aim was for this collection to be available again to the public.

As one of the most important steps in the future he considers the involvement of the private sector, stressing that no cultural institution in the world can function without the partnership of government and private sector.
