On Saturday, May 24th, about 40 members of the Balkan diaspora gathered at Trix bar and restaurant in Brooklyn for a vigil and fundraiser for the victims of flooding in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia.
Additionally, there was a short poetry reading. More than 750 Dollars was raised. All the donations are going to the Red Cross organizations of the three countries.
“Namely, the suggested donation is 20 Dollars, but anything you can contribute is much appreciated. All funds will be donated to the Red Cross organizations in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia. Every little counts! We will have pens and papers so you can write messages of hope and support to flood victims. We will then take photos with these messages and post them online in order to generate broader awareness and provide hope to those affected.”, was annouced on their Facebook profile.
