Vizier’s Shop in the Bezistan of Travnik’s Colorful Mosque a Place where good People meet

The renovation of the Colorful Mosque in Travnik brought with it some novelties. One of them is the Vizier’s shop, located in the bezistan of this mosque, where people will drink “docekusa”, “razgovorusa”, “teretli”, and “icindijusa” coffee.

The unique “art mejdan concept cafe”, which has further enriched the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) tourist catering offer, has been at the service of Travnik’s visitors for some time now, and it will bring a special charm to the month of Ramadan when it will surely be a favorite place to sit and socialize before and after tarawih prayers, Klix.ba writes.

What is unique is that the Vizier’s shop brings together the services and offers of as many as 15 craftsmen from this area, and their common goal and intention is to revive old Bosnian customs and traditions and present them to tourists, but also to bring back to life the local population.

”What makes this shop special is its offer of coffee, a beverage that most often unites us in socializing. Drinking coffee in this area has a special charm, because it delights all the senses, especially when we drink it with dear people. “Docekusa” or “Vizier’s coffee” is the most interesting for foreign tourists, because they grind their own coffee with a grinder and in this way get acquainted with the old customs of the whole process of making coffee when guests come to the house,” they said from the Vizier’s shop.

The symbolism of the elephant spreads throughout the store. On napkins, plates, walls, logos, seals… Why? Because, when the story of the Vizier is mentioned, the story of the Vizier’s elephant is inevitable.

”There is also a surah in the Qur’an that tells of how the elephants refused the order to overthrow the Kaaba. The whole bezistan consists of ten small shops or rooms, and each of them has its own story and name and evokes a real home environment, just as we experienced with our grandmothers, who nurtured BiH traditions and customs. At first glance, you can understand which room is right for you. The girls go to the ‘girl’s room’, the boys choose the ‘boy’s room’, there is, of course, the ‘Fatima’s room’, the ‘guest room’, as well as the big one for a larger group, but the Vizier’s room stands out the most,” they added from the Vizier’s shop.

One of the founders of the Vizier’s shop, Djenana Bajraktarevic, pointed out that the concept of the whole story is to be a link between people and those who share, produce, work, but also to show tourists that we must not and should not be ashamed to host them in our house and room.

”The Vizier’s shop represents the entire experience of BiH tradition and customs, from the atmosphere of the complete ambiance to the taste and smell of former desserts. As Travnik is an inexhaustible source of life, people and events, so is the Vizier’s shop a collection of diverse works by artists from this area, where you can buy everything you see and treat yourself to a beautiful memory from the Vizier’s city,” explained Bajraktarevic.
