The President of the European Commission said on Saturday that the European Union (EU) stands with the people of Venezuela and supports a peaceful and democratic transition.
“We stand with the people of Venezuela and support a peaceful and democratic transition. Any solution must respect international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter,” von der Leyen said on the social media platform X.
She added that the EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela and told EU citizens in that country that they can count on the full support of European institutions.
The United States (U.S.) carried out attacks on Venezuela on Saturday, and President Donald Trump announced that the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife had been arrested and taken out of the country.
U.S. forces carried out a large-scale attack, and the operation to arrest Maduro was conducted by the elite special unit of the U.S. military, Delta Force.
