Vucic after the Defeat: You will soon see changes in Relations with RS and Sarajevo

Aleksandar Vučić, the lead candidate for the “United Serbia” list, announced changes in relations toward Republika Srpska and Sarajevo following his concession of defeat in the Serbian elections. He also expressed his gratitude to Milorad Dodik, who spent election night at the SNS (Serbian Progressive Party) headquarters.

“You will soon see changes in relations toward Republika Srpska, as well as changes in relations toward Sarajevo – you were lied to about everything,” Vučić stated this evening at the Serbian Progressive Party’s election headquarters in New Belgrade, while thanking Dodik for his support.

SNSD leader Milorad Dodik arrived at the SNS headquarters with his son, Igor Dodik, before the polls closed, in order to await the results alongside Vučić.

Earlier, Vučić had conceded defeat. He explained that, based on a stratified sample, it was clear his list had lost the election to the “Student List,” which is projected to secure between 135 and 140 seats, while “United Serbia” is expected to hold around 105. He noted that while final results are not yet available, many will be surprised and will realize the extent to which some had lied.

Dodik arrived at the “United Serbia” election headquarters even before Vučić himself; more than 110 accredited media outlets from within the country, the region, and the rest of the world covered the election night from the SNS headquarters.

Dodik openly stands with Vučić

Throughout the campaign, Dodik openly supported Vučić and participated in rallies for the “United Serbia” list. In Inđija, he stated that Vučić had stood by them in Banja Luka on the night when Sarajevo thought that Srpska was finished, and that this was the reason he had now come to support him and the “United Serbia” list.

A few days before the elections, Vučić thanked Dodik for his friendship and for what he described as the closest relations between Srpska and Serbia in history – spanning 14 years – adding that on Sunday, they would win “for both Serbia and Srpska.”
According to data from the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK), voter turnout by 6:00 PM stood at 64.89 percent.

The “Student List” campaign headquarters reported that, by 8:00 PM, 69.1 percent of the electorate had cast their votes, Klix.ba writes.
