Vucic: Blockades destroyed Faculties, Someone must be held accountable

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that due to the blockades, faculties in Serbia have been destroyed in various ways and that “someone will have to answer for trying to achieve their interests about seizing power through the backs of children”.

“Now we have to ask children to work harder, to progress faster, to be able to get back on track, to be able to compete with their peers from the region, not to mention their peers from Europe. It’s a terrible thing”, Vučić said during a visit to the municipality of Zaječar.

Vučić stated that 104 medical students are asking to study at the Military Academy at the Department of Medicine, but they cannot, because they are not cadets.

“Professor, are you at least a little ashamed, you have destroyed faculties, you have also destroyed them financially… They have taken away six months from someone at their greatest intellectual strength, when they have to make the greatest mental efforts, when they have to master the most material, learn the most, because of their penny-pinching stories about seizing power”, Vučić said.

He stressed that everyone will have to answer for it.

“You remember that they say that they are not interested in government and politics and that they are interested in fulfilling demands. What have we come to? To naked political demands… Who will give that back to children in secondary and primary schools? No one, ever!”, Vučić said.

Vučić said that people are fed up with Serbia being stopped, and that they say that the biggest problem in Serbia is protests and blockades.

He added that the students in the blockade and their plenums are nervous about the announcement of students who want to study that they will go on a hunger strike if lectures do not start at all faculties on June 1, because their plan was to go on a hunger strike, and added that they will ask students who want to study not to go on a hunger strike.

“I want to ask them not to do that. I know that they are not fraudsters like some others who go on a hunger strike and then run for 30 days,” Vučić said.
