Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said that he will meet with representatives of the authorities and the opposition in the RS no later than Wednesday, the 22nd of February, on the occasion of the announcement of the revision of the lawsuit against Serbia.
“I think that I will see them together on Wednesday, those in power and those in opposition, those Serbs from Banja Luka and Serbs from Sarajevo. I do not refer to the place where they live, but I’m talking about positions in the government. I want to talk with everyone and hear their opinions,” said Vucic.
He noted that it is important to talk about everything, regardless of the difficult position and situation.
“I think we should drop the ball and look at what is in the best interests of our nations as a whole,” said Vucic.
He added that he had already spoken (by phone) with the President of the RS Milorad Dodik and that he will talk with Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic.
Vucic said that it is obvious that ahead of us are a rather turbulent political time in the region, for which Serbia was not responsible, nor it caused them by anything.
According to him, the revision of the judgment is something that represents a difficult and different situation for Serbia. “Serbia has invested a lot of energy and effort in maintaining peace and stability and it will continue to do that. This is something that we did not want,” said Vucic.
He expressed the belief that it will bring results and opinions that the intention itself, without going into whether it is legally correct, it is not good for the situation in the region, because it shows a desire to continue to talk about the past, much less the future.
Vucic said that Serbia will, however, be open for discussion and that there is a need for talk.
“This shows how much I was right when I insisted on establishing a deeper dialogue between Serbs and Bosniaks because it is obvious that we all somewhere learned what the Europeans, the Americans and the Russians like to hear, but we did not talk enough among ourselves. We did not put the shoes of the other and tried to understand troubles and problems of the other side,” said Vucic.
He said he was afraid that this time “the people who made such a decision because of some internal needs, did not understand the essential need of their people.”
“As for us, as a representative of Serbia, we will answer to any requests in a professional and responsible manner, and I think that we will get the same answer, for which I cannot say that it goes in favor of Serbia, but it certainly is not damaging Serbia,” said Vucic.
He added that this entire process is moving away from accelerating reconciliation and greater understanding, and a lot of energy and effort was spent on that topic.
