In the next few days water from the reservoir Tilava from Istocno Sarajevo will be put into operation, which will supply Sarajevo settlement Hrasno and the central part of Sarajevo with water, said the Director of the PUC Water and Sewage Utility of Sarajevo, Nezir Hadzic.
“Since the reduction of water are taking place for two decades, we came up with the idea of trying to ‘revitalize’ this water flow that was in use before the war. However, we have encountered major problems, since we received information that there is a certain number of mines,” said Hadzic.
Director of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection of BiH, Fahrudin Solak, said that the works lasted for 33 days, since in the tunnel, which is 618 meters long, they found large quantities of water, mud, waste materials and unexploded ordnance.
He emphasized that they found two antipersonnel mines at the entrance to the water pipe in Istocno Sarajevo, and hand grenade at the exit to the water pipe in Hrasno, as well as that this was one of the most demanding projects for this administration.
